Kentucky "No-Fault" Insurance:
Kentucky No-Fault insurance law has nothing to do with fault. A person involved in an auto wreck must use the insurance policy on the vehicle they were occupying at the time of the wreck to collect the first $10,000 on out-of-pocket losses. Some policies have added benefits beyond the first $10,000. Out-of-pocket losses include medical bills, prescription costs, some lost wages, funeral bills up to $1,000 and loss of services. Wages are capped at $200 per week.
The responsible insurance company will require a completed application for benefits and a medical authorization before providing benefits. If there is no insurance on the vehicle, you may be eligible for an assigned company through Kentucky Assigned Claims Bureau (KACB).
